I'm most interested in the tools that deal with photos because I am always drawn to photo galleries on people's web pages, etc. I'd like to investigate the Flickr mashups.

My first impression of Wikipedia is that it is a good starting point for research but I wouldn't let my students use it as a source on a bibliography. I do like the discussion section (and I had not used that before) because there are some very good points that are made there. LL

2. My first impression about wikis in education is that they may be a good resource for me to find interesting worksheets, projects, etc. Not sure I would find/take time to make my own.

I think wikipedia is a useful first source for general information about a subject (just like an encyclopedia when I was in school). You are able to get a good overview of almost any topic.

I am having a blast getting started with my very own wiki! I am interested in veiwing other wikis to determine just how they can be used and in using them to help me develop my own. sb

1) I am also most interested in tools that have to do with photography.
2) I have used Wikipedia and find it most useful for looking up random information ust for curiosity's sake. I am very unsure at this point of how I would use wikis in my classroom!

I think Wikipedia can be very valuable as long as you keep in mind that it is not necessarily 100% accurate! Using the links to verified websites from Wikipedia is a good way to find information that you can cite.

I am most interested in setting up a wiki and making it attractive and easy to use. I would especially like to set up a photo gallery. NC

My impression about the use of wikis in education is that it could save a lot of time getting out informationn to students.

Wikipedia seems like a very convenient starting point for looking up a variety of topics. I have never used it before, but I think I will start using it now.

I read in someone's post about looking forward to using Flicker mashups. I too would like to learn to use this tool. NC

I haven't used wikis before but already found some good ideas, from other teachers, to use within my classroom.

I have never tried a wiki or a blog. I would be interested in trying both of them.JC

I was truly amazed at the amount of information and ideas available for subject areas at my grade level. At my grade level, we do not use the wikipedea at all.

LL mentions an interest in the tools that deal with photos. I would really be interested to find out what tools are available.JC

One of the "23 things" discussed using youtube. I am interested in investigating math tutorials on this sight. If a student was having difficulty understanding a particular topic, I could direct him or her to a particular video for further explanation.

I agree with LL the Flickr features are going to be interesting. Also, wikis have a lot to offer for older age groups.

I agree with the majority of comments that Wikipedia is a good starting point for research. I also agree that Wikis are an excellent resource.

One blogger talked about YouTube and finding tutorials to use in class. I have used a particular guy who posts videos discussing Spanish gammar, and the lessons (about 6-7 minutes each) are great. The kids love them. The lessons are simple, easy to understand, and some are interactive. Do a lot of previewing because there's some real garbage out there. I just typed in "Spanish grammar lessons" in the search box and found lots of possibilities. LL

LL and I agree about the use of wikipedia. While it contains a lot of information, one can never guarantee its accuracy. It's a great source for an overview of a topic.
