Week 11: Book Trailers
Book trailers are exciting solutions to the boring book report. They do require careful planning by the teacher, and most likely group work to handle the varied tasks. However, "watchers are not always readers." How do YOU think a book trailer could influence a struggling or nonreader to reach for a good book?

Since children are growing up in a digital age,I feel as though book trailers are a great idea to peak their interests. BC
I think that most children's interest is peaked by pictures or illustrations. For young children, I believe that they would be a valuable tool.
I love the book trailers that Dianne highlighted in class. A great idea to implement in class....book reposrts for the 21st century. I especially like the Five Card Flickr for creative writing. css
Glad to learn that a book trailer is not a place to go and read a book. tee hee. Really loved learning about it and making one. I will use this again.
Students who are reluctant to read may become interested in a book after seeing a book trailer. A good book trailer will give students an idea of what the book is about and cause them to consider reading it.JC
I think most children are excited by visuals, and children today have grown up using technology. A book trailer is a powerful way to grab their interest and entice them to read. It is also a fun, exciting, hands-on, and inventive alternative to the usual book report.

These definitely aren't just for kids! I would love to be able to view a book trailer like this for any book I'm interested in. With the emphasis on the AR books the kids have to read in middle school, book trailers would be very useful to the language arts teachers.LL
