I have several students working on joint projects. This would be great to set up a separate bookmark for each group so the students could communicate easily about their portion of the projects.
This would work well for a research project: I could indicate which sites would be good for students to go to. I would also be pleased to have a shared site for English teachers at Maclay so that I would have links to sites that have already been vetted by people I trust.
Sharing notes websites & resources can be helpful by sharing with a common community. You can share bookmarks with your colleagues to let others know which current, hot websites could be useful in the classroom. This will also be helpful in curriculum planning where we have to share all electrinic resources used for the year. It will be a central location to keep track of all of the great sites you find while cruising the web. This is one giant Favorites Bar in a way :) cb
I would love to see departments at Maclay use these tools to share class lectures, resources, websites, etc., to help students with homework, projects, studying, etc. Students could also create collaborative pages to help each other with homework, questions that may arise after the school day or over the weekend. This could be very useful as a peer tutoring tool as well. LA
I would use social bookmarking for my social studies class to get new ideas from other 5th grade teachers teaching similar lessons. I could also use it to contact people to help with questions on best teaching practices for certain lessons.
It allows teachers, in a variety of curriculums, to share links that would be helpful to identify sources that offer a variety of links to interactive activities. djm
The bookmarks I have on my school PC for math sites are the result of countless search sessions, of culling internet junk to find the real useful gems, etc. They are valuable to me and I suppose they have the potential to be useful to other math teachers as well. I'm sure my colleagues have a similar cache of goodies secured on their own PC's. With a shared bookmarking site, we would be able to easily share these resources and collaborate on the best ways to use them with our classes. EL
I am still trying to figure out how it can help with administrators, but I can see lots of possibilities for teachers. I guess communication with people with the same needs and interests would be the best use for me. PA
Yet another great way to share useful websites/tools in a creative way so that someone could follow or find useful information that could be very helpful to their class or project. CT
Social Bookmarking allows for a collection of relevant information on any given topic or subject - saving hours of time searching & assessing... On a personal level I have a friend that finds really cool links all the time but i get them in an email that i lose track of or he'll tell me about them...if he put an account together i could access all his cool links anytime.
