- How do you attribute image/video copyright in your lessons, professional presentations, and research/writing?
- What do you require of your students when they use images they find on the internet for posters, presentations, etc? What should you require that you don't already do?

I ask my students to use noodlebib for all attributions. What I don't do and should do is require them to choose from images that are available under creative commons.

I teach a unit on copyright and trademarks and how to use them in my journalism class. I also review information pertaining to plagiarism and copyright in my research paper class. All projects require a bibliography in MLA format. djm
I sure count on our wonderful librarian to teach the students this stuff.... I require bibliographies all the time. I'll talk about creative commons now. KE
My students need to site their research sites for their projects in their social studies projects. Obviously, after today's class,I need to require more from them such as doing Creative Commons search to check for copyright restrictions.
This is something I haven't really thought about before because I considered anything easily available on the internet as free reign. Oops! Thankfully I've learned before getting into trouble that I must credit photos used or search for photos that are public domain. LA
Thus far, the only times i have used clipart or other images is for use in my lessons directly to my students. I find these by searching "free images" and whatever I'm looking for.
Aa I understand the "rules", this is still ok without using the specially liscenced images. If/when I do a project for a larger audience, I will use the guidelines I learned in class -images found in creative commons collections and give proper citations.

Thank you MUCHO, Dianne, for the handout clarifying proper use and proper citing for online resources. IMHO "COPYRIGHT AND FAIR USE GUIDELINES FOR SCHOOL PROJECTS" needs to be distributed in each class, by each teacher, so we are ALL on the same page doing the right thing.
This makes it so easy to feel safe about what we are using in class! CB
We need to make sure all teachers are aware of all the copyright rules, and we to introduce all teachers to creative commons.PA
